Promoting Acceptance, Understanding and Preservation of our Diverse Culture works to find ways to bring understanding of local history and culture to Tempe, Arizona while working to eliminate discrimination. The Tempe Historical Museum, along with a citizen advisory board, has worked to preserve and display the Hispanic heritage that is part of Tempe. The Riverside\Sunset neighborhood has recently seen positive change brought about as a direct result of neighbors’ actions. In an effort to be heard and stop neighborhood decay, citizens began to formulate a plan to reinvest in their neighborhood, spawning new development. The Parent Liaison Program develops relationships with parents and their children. Parent liaisons create a comfort zone for families in the schools by addressing lack of clothing, domestic violence, and English translation.
