Bellflower, California
Bellflower Against Gangs in Bellflower, California was
founded in 1991 by members of the community as a reaction to an increase in
crime. The program works specifically to reduce gang activity and graffiti.
Bellflower Recreation in Motion (BRIM) was developed to address
the limitations of having only 51 acres of city park space. To expand recreational
opportunities for children, BRIM travels to neighborhoods not in close proximity
to parks and provides day activities for children. Caring Connections
makes health care and social services more accessible to low-income and underserved
children and families by acting as the community clearinghouse for these resources.
