The Community Action Network involves cooperative planning
and collaborative action to help build a healthier, stronger and more vital
community in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The Network acts to provide the leadership
necessary to enable the community to work in partnership on issues facing
its citizens. The Fort Dodge Public Library was newly constructed
to serve the citizens of the area. In addition to providing literary material,
the building serves as a place for citizens to connect to the rest of the
state through the Iowa Communications Network and hosts the Webster County
Historical and Genealogical Societies. Gateway Community Learning
Center serves children in grades five through eight with before and
after school expanded learning and enrichment opportunities. Working collaboratively
with other community-based programs, the Center ensures children are safe,
drug-free, and in a supervised environment.
