Kosciusko County, Indiana

Home Care and Hospice of Kosciusko County, Indiana was recently selected to serve as the administrator of the County’s new prescription assistance fund created to meet the needs of the uninsured and indigent. Since the fund’s establishment in 2000, over $1 million in maintenance drugs were given out to almost 600 individuals. Sus Amigos, “Your Friends,” is built on a volunteer effort to bridge the gaps created by language barriers and cultural distinctions between English and Spanish-speaking members of the community. The Kosciusko YMCA provides services to youth not found elsewhere in the community. The appointment of a teen and family director has focused the center’s attention on youth resulting in the creation of a safe haven for those seeking support, encouragement, education, and fun.
