New Haven, Connecticut
All Our Kin (AOK) has been training low-income parents to become childcare
providers in a rigorous, nine-month program where they work hands-on with
their own children in an onsite lab school. AOK launched the Family Child
Care Network in 2002, a program, which promotes quality, through assessments,
professional development, and home visits, and provides critically needed
legal and business supports. The Male Involvement Network (MIN), established
by the New Haven Family Alliance (NHFA), provides a comprehensive service
system, helping fathers to become nurturing and responsible forces in their
children's lives. The Olin-Yale-Bayer-New Haven Public Schools Science
Fair Program is a year-round educational effort that provides a sense
of excitement related to using inquiry-based hands-on science experiences,
helps students develop skills in critical thinking, promotes scientific literacy
and provides a firm foundation in various science-related fields in early
states of a student's education.
