Academic Village is located in an 80-acre park and serves thousands
of students. Village Partners include: Broward Community College serving
1,900 students; Florida International University serving 1,000 students; Pembroke
Pines Charter High School serving 1,600 students; River of Grass Cultural
Arts Center; Southwest Regional Library; a sports facility with Olympic-sized
pool, tennis and basketball courts; and a 30-acre wetlands/environmental students
area. The Southwest Focal Point Senior Center (SFPSC) is the central
location for comprehensive services for elder citizens of southwest Broward
County including: a 52,000 sf Center, a 190-unit residential facility and
a commerce center. The Pembroke Pines Charter School System (PPCSS)
is Florida's first and only municipally-managed charter system providing a
full, public, tuition-free education where children are benefiting from a
comprehensive, challenging curriculum and enrichment programs from prekindergarten
through high school and beyond.
