The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce has kicked-off its "Buy-a-Mile"
campaign to help raise the neccessary funds to send a team to represent
the Town of Huntington at the All-America City finals June 21 to 23
in Atlanta.
The Town was recently named a finalist and will join 29 other cities
competing for the All-America City designation, the nation's oldest
and most prestigious civic recognition program. Presented by the National
Civic League and Allstate Insurance Company, the award recognizes communities
in which citizens, government, business and non-profit organizations
demonstrate successful resolution of critical community issues.
"We know what the rest of the country will know in a few weeks,
that Huntington is number one," said Dennis Sneden, chief executive
officer of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. "Becoming
a finalist is an extraordinary accomplishment brought on by tireless
efforts of all who have been involved in the process. I am confident
that the spirit of Huntington will come through in raising the funds
needed to send our team to Atlanta."
"Buy-A-Mile" sponsors can purchase as little as 1/10th of
a mile for $5 or a full mile for $50 or several miles, to help finance
the approximately 2,000 mile round trip. "Miles" can be purchased
at the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. Call [phone number]
