Community Services - Recent Projects

Colorado Trust (2003-Present)

NCL has provided monthly facilitation services to the Trust for the past four years on three of their statewide initiatives, the After School Initiative, the Bullying Prevention Initiative and the Supporting Immigrant and Refugee Families Initiative. These initiatives of the Colorado Trust, a prominent change and results oriented foundation, have garnered substantial national attention. NCL has been working with the coordinating agencies that oversee the initiatives with planning assistance, facilitation of meetings and troubleshooting.

Gladstone, Missouri (2004)
Community Services completed, Gladstone on the Move, a community-visioning and strategic planning project in Gladstone, Missouri, a suburb just north of Kansas City, Missouri. This community has already achieved remarkable results as a part of their ongoing efforts.

Belton, Missouri (2004)
Belton, a fast growing community outside of Kansas City, completed their community-wide strategic planning project in 2004. This community has grabbed hold of this project in an energetic manner, with large turnouts for the meetings and interest from the media. The stakeholders focused on areas such as community leadership, image, community services and economic development.

City and County of Broomfield (2005)
After initially working with Broomfield in 1996 on their historic strategic planning effort that created the first change in Colorado's state map in 94 years, NCL began work with the City and County of Broomfield on its comprehensive plan in 2004. This planning process was completed in September 2005. The plan was reviewed and enthusiastically adopted by Council on October 26, 2005. Broomfield is a model of making the seemingly impossible a reality.

Raytown, Missouri (2006)
NCL followed up their strategic planning project with the city of Raytown to assist with a long-term planning effort with the Parks and Recreation Department. Rather than watch the future simply happen, Raytown is a city determined to create the community they desire.

Blue Springs, Missouri (2007)
NCL kicked off this strategic planning project, Renew the Blue - Reaching Higher, in May 2006. This project was a follow-up to the successful strategic plan from 1997 called Out of the Blue and Into the Future. The city had undergone elected leadership changes and the retirement of a long-term city manager. The transition produced the impetus to create a new, shared focus among the elected body, staff and in the community. The project updated the community vision and focused on five main areas: Government, Economic Development, Redevelopment, Life Long Learning and Quality of Life.
