2004 All-America City Award Application

Is Your Community an All-America City?

The National Civic League invites you to apply for America's oldest and most prestigious community recognition award. The All-America City Award recognizes exemplary grassroots community problem-solving and is earned by communities that cooperatively tackle challenges and achieve results.

"Since winning the award in 1990, 71 companies have relocated here, bringing in 3,900 new jobs as of 2003. These new jobs are generating an annual payroll of more than $100 million," said Paul Anderson, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. "The Award gave us the credibility and pride to encourage these companies to relocate."

Some benefits of the Award are:

  • Economic Stimulus
  • Community Pride
  • Community Collaboration
  • National Recognition
  • New Partnerships in Your Community

Student Voices

Students participating in Denver Student Voices are preparing to make their voices heard to some very important visitors. As part of the "Issues and Actions" curriculum, students have been interviewing people in their neighborhood to find out what issues most concern them. After discussing these issues in class, the students develop a Youth Issues Agenda, a list that reflects the top five issues of concern to their community. Over the course of the next month, students will present their Youth Issues Agenda to visiting city officials, school board members and candidates for the Denver public school board. Already scheduled to appear as guest speakers in Denver Student Voices classrooms are: City Councilwoman Peggy Lehmann at Thomas Jefferson High School, City Council President Elbra Wedgeworth at Manual High School, City Councilwoman Rosemary Rodriguez at Abraham Lincoln High School, and School Board Candidate Rita Montero at CLA High School. The students are looking forward to presenting their issues to the city's leaders and discussing potential solutions to the major problems facing Denver.

For more information about Denver Student Voices, please contact Kelly Bovio, Project Manager, at kbovio@ncl.org or by phone at 303-571-4343.
